The twins got their awesome tricycles a little over a year ago, for their 2nd birthday. It was about 6 months before they really knew how to ride them and now they are old pro's racing all over the place. They got helmets for Christmas and now all they want to do is ride! The other morning, we went for a ride around our neighborhood and enjoyed the insanely gorgeous weather! Although we have entered to win the HGTV dream home in Utah (yes, we would totally move if we won, have you seen that house??!!?), I don't know HOW we could be away from the beach and having the kind of view we have from, literally, our back door!

Christmas Day

Wow, almost 2 weeks into the new year and I have yet to post about Christmas! We've been busy!

Christmas morning this year was absolutely magical. It was my favorite one with you, yet. This year on Christmas, you were 5 days shy of being 3 years and 3 months old and you understood the concept and enjoyed the season this year so much more than last year (you were 2 years and 3 mo). The reason it was so magical is bc of the fact that you KNEW Santa had come while you were sleeping and brought your presents! The night before we left him cookies and milk and you said you would go right to sleep so he could come! When you woke up (we had to wake you up at 8:15 bc we had to be at Gramma and Grampa's at 10), you could not wait to run to the living room and see if he ate his snack and brought gifts!! Both of your eyes lit up and you were so cute in your jammies with sleepy eyes and bed head. It was the kind of Christmas morning I had always pictured when I dreamed of having kids. It was crazy that it was finally real! You both tore open your gifts and laughed and squealed with excitement! It was so fun and cute! I can't wait til next year bc I know as you grow older, it well be even more fun and more magical. I think next year we'll have to have the whole morning to ourselves though so we aren't rushed and we can just enjoy the morning and take our time celebrating and being together. It's important to start of own traditions and have our own Christmas mornings but we'll still celebrate with other family after! :)

Then, as we always have, we went over to Gramma and Grampa's to do Christmas with them and your Aunts, Uncles and cousins (although no cousins were there this year when we were). You got more presents and we hung out for a while except Daddy couldn't be there. This year Christmas fell on a Sunday so Daddy had to work (Christmas and Easter are the busiest seasons for Pastors!). We def missed him and I'm glad we snapped a family pic before he left.

Christmas Eve 2011

On Christmas eve we went ice skating at church before service, it was K&K's first time :)

After service the twins and I came home (obviously being a Pastor, Daddy had to stay a while longer at church) and I made the birthday cake for Jesus! This was our first year doing this and will continue to bea tradition. K&K really got Christmas this year, it was incredible to see how much more they understood and enjoyed it versus last year!! When they were newborns we had multiple talks about what we would do as far as teaching them about Christmas (the whole believing in Santa thing or not) and I really think we found the perfect balance. All season we explained the reason for Christmas was Jesus being born and why we get and give gifts but we also played into the whole Santa Clause thing which was so exciting for them. I can't wait to see how much more they get it as each year passes. So we sang Happy Birthday to Jesus and blew out the candles (probably 4 times because they loved it so much) :) Then we got the cookies and milk ready for Santa and the carrot and celery for the reindeer :) It was such a magical night and brought back the excitement and anticipation I felt when I was a kid, and I was feeling for my kids now. I was so excited for them! It was the best Christmas eve since they were born, hands down. I know next year will be even better!

This Christmas season went by entirely too fast!!! The fastes year yet since the twins were born. But we did TONS of baking and had a blast all month long! Here is a glimpse into our fun :)

We took them to see Santa for the 3rd year in a row. The first 2 years they were great. They didn't smile but they didn't cry either :) This year, we talked about it all day before we went and both were excited and said they would tell him what they wanted. Well, we got in line and Kaden started crying just at the sight of him! Kaden is my little tender heart and he's very sensitive...he is still petrified of characters at D-Land. So, he was weary of Santa, way more this year than last! It took about 10 min of talking to him to get him to do and then he ended up being so big and brave :) He gave his biggest smile that he knows how and my heart swelled just thinking about how brave he was trying to be!! Such a sweet little guy. Kaleiah wouldn't crack a smile, staying true to form for year 3 :)

We made our first gingerbread houses! They had free reign on how they wanted to do it and they loved it! Such sweet memories made!

Last year for our Christmas card pics (and for fun), we drove up to big bear which is just a few short hours from our home on the beach (I love that we can play in snow and in sand in the same day if we want to!) and had a ball. We had such a great time that we decided it would be our annual tradition. So last week we headed up hoping to get some cute shots to choose from for our Christmas card. Well we got up there later than we hoped, right at nap time to be exact) and it was about 20 degrees colder than it was last year. So the tired, hungry, FREEZING children were not a picture taking mood. Kaleiah actually was miserable after about 5 minutes. I had all sorts of props and cute ideas and I didn't get to use a darn one. Kaden was happy to be in a new environment and even though he was cold, he wanted to play in the snow. We snapped a few pictures before Kaleiah started melting down and I had to take her back to the car for warmth. We got ONE family picture. I got a few of them playing and one of my husband and I and that's it! I was so beyond bummed. Days of planning, all morning packing up and a 2 hour drive and only 10 minutes there. But I couldn't keep them out there, torturing them in the cold wind :( I can't blame them anyway, I HATE being cold and add being tired and hungry to it and that's pretty much my hell! So we chalked it up to just another adventure and memories made. We're planning on going back up next week to just play and hopefully go sledding :)

On Veterans day Nana and Papa asked if they could take you (us) to the aquarium, a place we have ALWAYS wanted to take you! You LOVED looking at all of the colorful, different kinds of fish! Your favorite (and mine!!!) was the sea otters! They are soooo cute and you loved watching them swim and play! There was so much to see, we could have easily been there all day but we were there for about an hour and a half and then we all went to lunch :) It was a special day, you love spending time with Nana and Papa and it was fun to go somewhere new, too!

I absolutely TREASURE being a stay at home mom and spending all my time raising, teaching, guiding and loving on my two treasures. The other morning we went down to the beach, it was so peaceful and sunny yet brisk. We looked for seashells and pine cones, we chased seagulls and threw rocks into the waves. It was a blissful morning.

Thanksgiving 2011

Thanksgiving this year was rough. A few days before, Kaden got sick and threw up but thankfully it was less than 12 hours. 3 days later and on the day before TG, Kaleiah got it. She threw up all day and night for 2 days including all day leading up to TG dinner with my husbands family. We hadn't gotten any sleep (any of us) the night before and I was dreading taking a sick child out and around 20 people (that's literally how many family members were there). The reason we went was because my sister in law was doing the gender reveal of their baby and I really wanted to be there to see! We were also supposed to take my in laws Christmas card photo. So we decided we would just go for an hour. We ended up staying for 3 because she was doing *ok* but I was stressed out the entire she didn't feel good and it was just too chaotic and I knew she just needed to be home resting. I didn't get to eat more than 3 bites of TG dinner so we took it home. I only took about 5 pictures which is not like me, if you know me! But I was not in the mood and I really couldn't with my sick girl attached to my hip. But we are thankful we got to spend a little time with family and be there to see my that my sis in law is having a GIRL! Kaleiah is especially excited because the only cousins she plays with are 2 boys (brothers). Her closest in age girl cousin (4 mo apart) lives in CO and her other girl cousins are teenagers. So she is excited to have a little girl cousin to play with :)

aprons

My friend's mom is a seamstress so I decided I would have her make the 3 of us aprons. I love aprons and have always wanted a super cute, girly one and I love the ones from anthropolgie but they cost a pretty penny. I LOVED the idea of picking ot my own fabric and therefor having a completely unique apron (and for waaay less than buying one).
I honestly had no ida what fabrics I would pick or what "theme" to do so I just started browsing Joannes and within 15 minutes I had picked out 3 fabrics from all over that just perfectly went together. they almost looked like they were MEANT to go together. As far as K&K's, I had their fabric for 2 years. I initially bought those fabrics when they were 1, thinking I was going to use it as covers for their baby books but I never did so it just seems to make sense to use it for their little aprons since it was just sitting there unused. It makes their aprons extra special :)

I LOVE her work and they are so beautifully made! I love the pickets and ruffles on ours and how basic and simple Kaden's is! Love them! And they came just in time for all of the Christmas baking we have in store! :)

Halloween 2011

K&K got the concept so much more this year since they had just turned 3! It was so cute to see them go up and knock on doors. We went to my moms, her 2 next door neighbors, our neighbor and then to the mall to trick or treat at the stores. It was super mellow and they didn't get a ton of candy which was good for all of us :) They picked their own costumes this year which was precious!

We also had a Halloween party at my parents and it was tons of fun!

Oak Glenn

We have many Fall traditions but the one I look forward to the most is our visit to Oak Glenn and Riley's Farm. Randy and I started going 2 years before the twins were born and this year was the 3rd in a row going as a family! We love the scenary, I die over it actually. A quaint little pumpkin farm/apple orchard tucked away in the mountains. I love the view of the snowcapped mountains against the fall foliage and all the rustic elements scattered around like old tractors with mason jars attached, little barns with tin roofs or old fashion apple peelers. It is the most amazing place for pictures and I took 400 that day!
This year was my most favorite of all because of a few magical moments. We had been at the farm for about ten minutes and were exploring and meandering around when all of a sudden it started raining! We took cover under the closest shelter which happened to be a little blue barn with a tin roof. So there we were, just our little family, huddled together watching the rain fall and listening to it come down on the tin roof above us. It was pure bliss. I live for little moments like that. And those kinds of little moments can be found anywhere in your day if you just take them time to notice them. We didn't know how long it would rain for but since it let up a little, we went about our fun. K&K climbed up on the tractors and pretended to drive, totally un-phased by the rain. Those were some of the best moments right there. Making memories is what drives me and what makes me the kind of mom I am. Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain...literally sometimes! :)

After exploring the farm we headed down the winding mountain road to another place we always stop. An adorable little place with whole in the wall restaurants (just one I think!) and candy shops. We always get their homemade pumpkin pie fudge. I crave it all year long and count down the days until we take our annual trip so I can get some :) They have a petting zoo and as each year passes my babies enjoy it more. The first time we took them to Oak Glenn they were 13 months old. Last year they had just turned 2 and this year just turned 3. Last year Kaden cried at the site of the goats and it was like torture for him being in there. This year he proclaimed how brave he would be and was he ever. He let them eat the corn right out of his little hand. That's my little guy! Kaleiah, as always, was fearless. I love her spunk and her confidence. She is a go getter. And my buddy is a cautious, sweet soul. Love everything about them both!

I absolutely cherish family time and making memories. There are so many little moments tucked away not just in my mind but in my heart and most days I feel like my heart could just burst at any given moment. Our traditional trip to Riley's Farm is the highlight of Fall for us and I get so darn excited when I think about all the years ahead that we'll be going. I get so excited thinking about the traditions we've started as our own little family, the ones that our babies will talk about when they are my age. I hope they look back with the fondest of memories. I already can not wait until next year's Oak Glenn adventure :)

3rd birthday at The Happiest Place on Earth!

This year for the twins' birthday, we didn't have a party, we decided to have a special Disneyland celebration. We do go to Disneyland a lot, sometimes even 3 times a week, so we thought about ways we could make this time extra special. We found a few ways to do that and the 2 days and one night that we spent there was so much fun and we made some incredible memories!! They really understood that this time was for their birthday and they felt super special with all the little ways we spoiled them :) First stop was to the DIsney store and we picked out a cute birthday outfit. Kaden loved his pirate mickey shirt and Kaleiah loved her adorable Minnie dress! Then they got their birthday pins that said their name and they loved how so many people told them happy birthday!! We made sure we rode their favorite rides, we got their faces painted, we got them balloons, met the Princesses and stayed out way past their bed time to watch world of color. It was truly a special and magical way to celebrate them and we all had a wonderful time! Happy 3rd Birthday to our babies!!

We decided to make this Disneyland trip extra special by staying at one of the hotels overnight so they would know it was different and more special than all the other times we go :) They were so excited about it and as soon as we got there they had fun jumping on the beds and playing on the room!

This is definitely one of my favorite moments of the 2 days! We have never waited to meet the princesses because the wait is usually about 90 min but I have heard of it being 3 hours. They rotate the princesses and you do not know which 3 will be in the until you get up there. We decided to wait and meet them because it would add such a magical element to their birthday celebration. So I waited in line (for only 1 hour!) while Daddy took them on a few rides. Kaden is still a little nervous of most of the characters so he wanted no part in meeting them. So juts my ladybug and I went in. I had told her we were about to meet some of the princesses and she just couldn't believe it. First we met Tiana which she doesn't even know who she is because we have never seen her movie. She was beautiful but probably the least friendly. Then we met Cinderella and I was holding back tears watching my little girl go up by herself and meet her. In her mind, she is real and she was talking to THE Cinderella. She was quiet and awe struck but I could tell she was bursting inside. Cinderlla got down to her level and made small talk. She told Kaleiah she loved her bow and her dress and asked her how old she was. It was so sweet. I almost believed she was Cinderlla. It's amazing how they play the role. I thought it was so great how she took her time talking to KH and we weren't rushed. It was so special for her!! The last one we met was Kaleiah's VERY favorite princess, Ariel. She was so excited. She was not as nice and Cinderlla but she did make a little small talk. She glanced at her birthday pin and started calling her Kayleigh which was just awkward and Kaleiah looked at me like "huh? who is she talking to?" It would be like meeting Santa and him calling you the wrong name. I felt a little bummed for her even though I knew it wasn't Ariels fault. But ask the kid their name instead of assuming you know how to pronounce it :) After we went out I picked her up and swung her around, just so giddy for her! She was so excited and could not believe she met them. It's so magical to be a kid at Disneyland! I printed a picture of her with Cinderlla and one with Ariel and framed them for her room :)

They got their first Disneylnad balloons! They loved being able to take their pick and it was just another small treat, something they have never had, to make them feel special for their Birthday! Kaleiah's is STILL floating and it's been almost 4 weeks!

We have been 3 times in the past 3 weeks and there will be more posts to come :) And we have 2 more that we visit traditionally which I can't wait for!

This year Kaden was so brave and rode a horsey! Last year he was terrified! I just love watching them grow in confidence!

Our family loves pumpkin patches, mostly because it signifies Fall is here! Too bad we don't have Fall weather to go with it but that's ok :) We went to our first patch the last weekend of Sep. and then to another twice in 2 weeks. The last time we went, Nana came to join in the fun. We still have a few more pumpkin patches to go to that we visit annually and I can't wait.

birthday celebrations

K&K were a little spoiled this year and had many little b-day celebrations leading up to their actual b-day. They are so blessed to have so many people who love them and to have such a huge family.
We had a pool party/bbq at Randy's Aunt and Uncle's house and Kaden and Kaleiah swam for sooo long! It was super fun. They got costumes/dress up outfits from Nana and KH wears her every.single.day. She has talked about being Ariel for Halloween for over a month so it was perfect that she got a Ariel dress! How darling are they in their outfits? They love to play pretend!

On their actual b-day, that evening we gave them s small gift and then my parents stopped by to give them their gifts :)

For their last celebration we had a birthday bon fire. We did this last year and it was so fun that I decided it should be an annual thing. It's low key and just a fun way to hang out with family.

this was the cutest and funniest thing ever! Kaden decided that since it wasn't raining, he would create rain himself so he could use his umbrella! Everyone was eating and talking and we look over and see him under the beach shower!! A roar of laughter ensued and it was def the funniest moment of the night!! So cute and how smart of him to put 2 and 2 together and do that!

3 years old

Another year has flow by and I am certain they go by faster each year! I literally feel like I was just planning your 2nd birthday. You have grown so much in the past 12 months and it's been absolutely thrilling, beautiful and magical so watch. I love experiencing every single moment of your life with you and being right beside you to help you grow into amazing little children. God has been so good to us and has given us 3 years of health and safety and we are always thanking Him for his blessing, especially for the blessings of your lives to us. It started out as an incredibly scary, rough road and we weren't sure what the future held but we now know God's plans did indeed prosper us and did not harm us, just like His Word says! God's will and timing is perfect.

It's nearly impossible to describe what you are like at this age. You are sooo different than you were 12 months ago! You are so incredibly smart. You are so sweet, well behaved, well mannered, and even tempered MOST of the time. We really haven't experienced much of the terrible two's. There have been the occasional tantrums but thankfully never in a store or crowded place where we have had to leave or anything like that. You usually just cry and pout, refuse to listen for a minute or 2 and then it's over. And what I am especially grateful for is it's never at the same time :) I can only count about 7 or 8 instances where you have been "terrible" in the past year and that's between the both of you. You are honestly such good listeners and very polite and good mannered for being so little (which makes me proud bc I get to see that as my reward for what I teach you) :)
I hear that the "terrible twos" get worse at age 3 so we will see what I am in for :)

Kaleiah:
You love helping me cook! ANY time I am making something in the kitchen you are right by my side helping me measure and stir and I love your help! Very soon I want to take you and a mommy and daughter date to a cooking class! You would just LOVE that! You are always playing restaurant at your little kitchen. Your imagination blows me away :)

You and Kaden are all about pretend play these days. This came into full affect about 3-4 months ago. You are off in your room having conversations and pretending for good amounts of time. Not only is it incredibly cute to hear and watch but it's been a great thing because I can get a lot more don now that you can completely and totally entertain yourselves and each other. You are literally built in best buddies.

You still LOVE food. This has not changed in 3 years. You are a bottomless pit, much like me, you have one of the healthiest appetites in a toddler that I have ever seen. You will try ANYTHING at least once, you got that from daddy. You are so open to trying new things to see if you like it. You often take Kaden's plate and finish what he left. Besides your 3 meals, you love to graze. Like me, you get incredibly grumpy and irritable when you are hungry...you are happiest when you have food/ a snack in your hand (also like me). And you are still tall and skinny, I have no idea where you put all that food :)

In the past 6 months you have really gotten into the Disney Princesses! You love them, your absolute favorite is Ariel. You love watching Little Mermaid and Cinderella. You love playing dress up! I have dreamed of that since I was little....about playing dress up and pretend with my own daughter....and now those days are here. For your birthday you got a Sleeping Beauty and Ariel dress from Nana and you wear them all the time. You want to be Ariel for Halloween :)

You are still the outgoing on for the most part. You are also the braver of the 2 of you. You will be the first to pet an animal or say hi to someone. Sometimes your personalities switch but for the most part you have always been and are still the more outgoing one. I think you are going to be a social butterfly just like your dad! :)

You love to sing. Some of your favorite songs to sing are "Jesus loves me" "How great is our God" the songs from Little Mermaid and anything off Neon by Chris Young (because that's my fav cd right now in the car!) :) Every night when I tuck you in I sing How Great as I stroke your little face. I usually hear your sweet little voice singing it for a few more minutes after I leave, until you finally fall asleep.

Over the past 2 months you have become a little afraid of the dark and things that go bump in the night. Back in August we had about 3 weeks where you hated bed time and would come up with a million excuses. You would say you were thirsty or something scared you or your back hurt. We had to move some things and take a few things off your wall bc you said they scared you. I know your imagination is growing and so you may be a little more sensitive to things that seem scary. Last night when I tucked you in you said "It's dark in here" and I said "Yes, it's dark when we go ni-night and it's ok." And you said "But God will keep me safe?" Yes my dear, He always will :) Thankfully the past month you have gone back to your great sleeping.

You are still in your crib. There is no reason to fix something that is not broken! At least that's what works for our family. In August when you were having your sleeping issues, you climbed out 3 times in 2 days. Before that you had only climbed out ONE time at about 18 months old. We lowered your mattress to the floor (only had to for one night) and you never tried to again. We put it back up to where it was and you still have not climbed out again. Since you two share a room, we wanted to keep you in your cribs for as long as possible because we're afraid that once in beds, you will just get up and play and keep each other from sleeping. And we are not ready to deal with all that or for naps to possibly end (which I have heard of happening) because you would rather get up and play. You love your cribs and you still totally fit. I think we will probably switch to beds around Christmas time though.

You still have a paci. You have always been paci loving babies. As a mother of multiples, you do what works. You do what you need to do. Pacifiers worked like a charm from day 1 and were life savers for a loooooooong time. Now, of course, they are just a comfort thing and you do not need them. We hoped to have you weaned of them by now but we're not worried about it. I have never seen a child go to school with one or be crippled in adulthood because they had a paci til 3. And as far as teeth issues, we took you to the dentist for your first check up/cleaning at 2 1/2 and he said it is absolutely nothing to be concerned about. You do not use them much, only when you are in the car, going to bed or when you're upset or really tired. When you are playing or at the park or we go to the store or out places you know you do not have them. I hope we can get rid of them by Christmas :) You also still have your special blankie, "boo" and I think it's sweet. You love boo!!!

Your hair is long enough to braid! I tell you, I have dreamt of that since you were born. Sure, the braid is tiny, but it's a braid! You have SO much more hair then you did at two! I just love the texture and the color. Such a pretty chestnut color, full of shades of brown, red and blonde!

I just love everything about your personality, even the feisty stubbornness because I know you get that from your mamma. You know what you want, when you want it and you are very strong willed. I hope you always keep that about you!
I love how much you love to learn! Your eyes light up whenever you learn or see new things. You are such a smart, caring, funny, spunky little girl. I am so excited to see how you grow and change this 3rd year! Your Daddy and I love you to the moon and back and will continue to pray for you! Love you ladybug!!

Kaden:
You are as much of a mamma's boy now as you were as an infant. But now it's even better because you can freely express how much you love me and when you do I just melt. The other day I was carrying you to your room and you hugged me so tight and said I love you SO much." I literally chocked up at how sweet that was that you said that out of no where. We have always been close and I pray it always stays that way! Our bond is magical.

You have become SUCH a little boy, not just a baby/toddler lil guy. You love laying on the floor and driving your trucks, you make driving sounds and everything. You love your cars, especially any of the characters from the Cars movies!

You love to sing. Some of your favorite songs to sing are "Jesus loves me" "How great is our God" and anything off Neon by Chris Young (because that's my fav cd right now in the car!) :)You know every word to almost every song. It's adorable!

You and Kaleiah are all about pretend play these days. This came into full affect about 3-4 months ago. You are off in your room having conversations and pretending for good amounts of time. Not only is it incredibly cute to hear and watch but it's been a great thing because I can get a lot more don now that you can completely and totally entertain yourselves and each other. You are literally built in best buddies. I need to record more of your conversations and play times!

In the past 6 months you have gotten into Disney movies and you keep saying you want to be Buzz Lightyear for Halloween :)

You are still the more reserved one between the two of you. You are like me, cautious and a little shy until you warm up to people. You are weary of new situations but over the past few months you have became more outgoing and brave! You are more willing to take chances now and try new things, weather it be holding a lizard that we catch, saying hi to a neighbor or riding a new ride at Disneyland that a few months ago would have for sure scared you :) I love that about you, I love that you are reserved at first but once you love something/someone, you love it! I love that you are sensitive, I think it's also going to be a quality your future wife will love.

You are still a little picky when it comes to food and don't often like to try new foods. You love mac and cheese, yogurt, fruit (peaches, bananas and strawberries are your fav), you also LOVE fish (we make talapia a lot and you devour it) and steak, namely Korean short ribs. We had some at a family bbq and you couldn't get enough! Even though you aren't as adventurous food wise as your sister, you still eat well!

You still have a paci. You have always been paci loving babies. As a mother of multiples, you do what works. You do what you need to do. Pacifiers worked like a charm from day 1 and were life savers for a loooooooong time. Now, of course, they are just a comfort thing and you do not need them. We hoped to have you weaned of them by now but we're not worried about it. I have never seen a child go to school with one or be crippled in adulthood because they had a paci til 3. And as far as teeth issues, we took you to the dentist for your first check up/cleaning at 2 1/2 and he said it is absolutely nothing to be concerned about. You do not use them much, only when you are in the car, going to bed or when you're upset or really tired. When you are playing or at the park or we go to the store or out places you know you do not have them. But we hope we can get rid of them by Christmas :) You also still have your special blankie, "boo" and I think it's sweet. You love boo!!!

You are still in your crib as well but just for naps. You still sleep with us at night. As I have written to you before, if we minded or were dying from having you sleep with us, it wouldn't still be going on. We actually love it as much as you do, I think! And most of the time I feel guilty that sissy isn't in the bed with us 3 :( But she is a lot more independent and likes her space when she sleeps :) You are only this little ONCE. And we love our sleeping situation. But hopefully in 6 months you'll be in a big boy bed in your room with your sister.

You are such a boy. Rough housing, tormenting the cat, throwing dirt, spitting, you do it all. It's so funny to me because some moments you are this rough and tough little guy who gets these bursts of agression and you play hard and then the next minute you'll be so sweet and cuddly and sensitive. Perfect mix if you ask me :) You are sooo sweet, mellow, sensitive, smart and funny!! Your Daddy and I love you to the moon and back and will continue to pray for you!
I love everything about you and can't wait to see how you grow and change in from 3 to 4!

Well my loves, it's so hard to describe just what you are like these days and how fast you grow and change. That is why I take SO many pictures and videos, so I have hundreds, no, thousands of moments to look back on. This past years was such an incredible age. So much change. You grow and learn and turn into little people more and more every day and it's a blessing to get to watch and be your number one fan. Thank you Lord for this gift!!!!

Yesterday I did a quick photo shoot to document Kaden and Kaleiah turning 3 this month (4 more days, eeep!!). I threw some little ideas and props together and off we went. Here are a few sneaks, I'll post the rest this weekend when they are officially 3!

Side note: The pic of just them and I was snapped at the very end when we were done and I am so in love with it. My husband asked for the camera and said for me to get in a pic with them. One of the MANY great thing about living close (the same city as 5 of my 6 siblings and my parents) to my family is that I can call my twin sis 10 min before I start dinner, as her if she wants to come and she is there in 5 minutes. I was going to make home made pizzas w/ my two mini bff's, daddy was working and I just decided to see if she wanted to come and join the fun. She played w/ the peas while I got stuff ready and we had some great sisterly chatting and catching up later on. I just wish nights like that happened more often :)

After being blocked for 2 months we were so excited to go back to one of our most favorite places!! We went Sunday as a fam, I took them Tuesday w/ my niece, I went Thursday with friends and then we went again as a fam Friday! 4 times in one week...yeah we def get our moneys worth by having annual passes!! Fall/Halloween time starts Sep. 17 and I CN NOT WAIT! Fall and Christmas is my FAVORITE time at Disneyland!
Sunday we met up to ride a few rides w/ my oldest friend his gf. They also were so sweet and let the twins pic out any toy they wanted for their early b-day present :)

MONDAY, AUGUST 18, 2008
20 days!
I can not believe tomorrow makes 3 weeks in the hospital!! Could not do it w/o the strength of the Lord. Its is 4:15pm right now and it's going on the 4th day that I have not had to have a shot Turbutaline to stop my contractions!!! That's a huge thing for us, kinda of a good or bad day maker. It means my contractions have been less than 8 every single hour for 3.5 days. That's amazing. Although the nurse just informed us that last hour I had 8 but it's most likely due to an upset stomach. Digestion is not friendly when all you do is lay down all day.
Had my IV changed for the 5th time last night. It's one of the things I hate the most bc I DO NOT like knowing something in in my vein. I wear this thing on my wrist that they gave me to cover it so I don't have to see it. Last night they only had to try twice (like last time). The SWEET nurse couldn't get it, I guess my vein rolled, so she got the supervisor who when she saw me in tears said she WOULD get it. Too bad I hear that every time :( But two tries is better than 5 or six like on my 3rd IV. Still getting blood drawn once a day-which is not bad at all. Of course it's not fun and I feel like a pin cushion but 1 time a day is better than 2-4. Mom washed my hair again yesterday which is a big ordeal in its self since i can't sit up. It's probably my favorite thing to do here and so far it's only happened twice. Anything too exciting causes too many contractions so we have to wait for "a good day."
My sister in law made me some other clothes to wear besides a gross hospital gown! She took the time to put buttons all the way down one side and on top of shoulders for easy opening on a nice, comfy, stretchy, soft t shirt. Way better than a ugly, starchy gown that I know others have worn. She has 2 more coming to me :)
Well that is about the latest on updates. Thank to everyone again for their thoughts, cards, flowers, gifts and PRAYERS. We can't thank you enough!!!!!! Praise God that it's been 3 weeks!!! Hopefully only 5.5 more to go and maybe I can do bed rest at home!

little moments

In the time that I have been a mommy (not quite 3 years), my mottos have been to love and laugh as much as possible, do not sweat the small stuff but cherish the small moments not just the big ones, know little, ordinary things often bring the most heart swelling moments, live in the moment even if it's messy! I am the kind of mom that LIVES for the little moments, the ones that often no one else sees. Those to me are little gifts from God and reminders that I am so deeply blessed to be a mother.
The nights when I am lying with my son for bed time and we are forehead to forehead looking at each other and he just startes laughing, and I start laughing, and we laugh together for 2 minutes straight. The kind of laugh that just keeps going over nothing at all. A moment I will tuck away and never forget. Laughter is so good for the soul.
The nights my daughter has a hard time going to bed on her own so there I am bent over her crib, stroking her face and she takes my hand, wraps it in her arms and hugs it. I lean over to give her a kiss and she hugs me so long and tight with no words being spoken from either of us. And unspoken moment of the deepest love and adoration. My heart bursts.
The morning cuddles while watching cartoons.
The cutest little giggles that come from being tickled.
The excitement and eagerness that come from being allowed to help me bake or cook.
There are so many little moments in everyday life that are unforgettable.
The best one last week came from a time of arts and crafts out back. A weekly occurrence in our house is finger painting, sometimes even rock and pine cone painting. We were on the patio with our washable paint and suddenly Kaden paints my arm. I give him a look and cracks up laughing and this repeats. His laugh is the deepest kind from the belly, full of enjoyment. They beging to paint my cheeks and nose all the while laughing their heads off and although I was being covered in paint I was fully living in the moment with them and that to me is what life is about. I painted them back, more laughter ensues, they paint me and this goes on for some time. Those are the moments I live for. PURE joy and laughter and fun, not caring about the mess being made, the clean up that will have to take place but the memories that were made right then and there. You can't buy precious moments like that.
It's in those moments that I am so grateful I get to be home with these two. I would just die if I missed out on those treasured little moments. Those moments can be found anywhere if you choose to let go and just live. Live fully and be as present as possible in the laughter, the joy, even the messes that are happening. Messes can be cleaned up, paint can be washed off and toys can be put away. I know I'll never forget that spontaneous little paint war that led to the most precious laughter and biggest smiles from my two love bugs.

The next time we painted, they began painting their faces again!

Kaden's first hair cut!!!

On August 2nd we took you to get your first hair cut. You had never even had a trim before! I LOVED your whipsy baby hair so much but it was just getting a little out of control :) Part of me felt bad for cutting it even though you are almost 3 and it's your FIRST hair cut because you had just finally gotten a good amount of hair over the past 8 months or so! You were bald as a baby and finally got some peach fuzz after your first year and by 18 mo I could make a tiny Mohawk.
We went to "First cuts" at the mall and you sat in a rocket ship chair, had a toy story "cape" and got to watch Toy Story while the lady cut your hair. You did SO good, sat so still and never made a peep. The only time you moved is when she used the buzzers, you thought that felt funny :) At the end we got a certificate to put in your baby book as well as a tiny manila envelope with some of your sweet baby hair in it! I held back crying but I did tear up as we watched, I am just so dang sentimental and firsts are SO special to me!
First thing I told her was to not go too short, just clean it up a little and I was getting anxiety when she kept cutting! Although I love it and think it's absolutely adorable, I think maybe she went a little too short. I wanted to still be able to comb it over and have some length on the top but she said if we wanted to be able to style it like in a little faux hawk that it needed to be shorter. Daddy reminded me its just hair and it WILL grow back :) We really do love it! She styled it for you and you just loved it. You did such a great job, buddy!

I go back and forth, sometimes I think you look just like you did last summer at 20-22 mo just with less of a baby face. So I LOVE that, I love feeling like when I look at you I have rewound time by a year :) Then there's moments (mostly when it's styled) that you look like SUCH a little boy which I also love but get a little sad over! But no matter what you look as cute as ever! :)

The Fair

I love the fair. I love the food, the smells, the rides (although I don't ride them, I love to watch those who do!), the games, the animals, I love it all. My husband and I have been going since we started dating. Our first time together we had been dating just 8 months back in 2002. We have gone every single summer since then (except the summer of '08 bc I was in the hospital on bed rest). It's a summer tradition that we always look forward to. The past 2 summers we have gone with our babies but this summer we went twice, once with them and once by our selves :)

6 year anniversary part 2

Day 2 was spent going shooting in the desert w/ my husband and my 2 oldest friends Ryan and Ben and Ryan's GF Ashely. The pink ear muffs were the best part :) My husband tells me I was a "great shot" bc I hit my first target, a mellon, on my first try with a AR 15! That was my fav gun to shoot. It was a ton of fun and the company was the best part! I took lots of videos I hope to get up soon!

Then later we went back to out hotel and got ready for dinner. But first my hubby and I walked around some of the hotels on the strip. Poor hubby got sick that day, was running a fever and had the aches and chills. Being in the sweltering dry desert heat for hours probably didn't help. We had plans to go cosmic bowling after dinner but he was just not feeling up to it.

Dinner was amazing though, we went to a Tappas restaurant with Ryan and his gf Ashley and Ben and his wife Dawn!. My fav was the blue cheese, bacon wrapped dates!

The morning that we left w/ met up w/ Ryan and Ash again at our fav place to eat breakfast, Hash House. I got a vanilla belgian waffle and hubby got mango coconut pancakes, yum!

6 year anniversary part 1

We went on our first weekend get-a-way without the twins to celebrate our 6 year wedding Anniversary, in Las Vegas!
We (or should I just say I) were nervous to leave as it was the first time that both of us would be gone. I knew they were in great hands with my parents but I just worried that they would wonder where we were and maybe get a little sad, especially Kaden as he is my little sensitive one and a total mamma's boy. I also knew I would miss them terribly bc as a stay at home mom, I am never away from them for more than a few hours a time when I need to run an errand or something and I miss them tons even then!

But this trip was much needed, much deserved and we were really looking forward to a few days of solid QT, time to just focus on one another and celebrate the past 6 years and our blessed marriage! When the twins were first born, I couldn't even picture being able to get away. Life was so crazy and it just seemed like it wouldn't ever be possible to escape the chaos so it was kind of surreal that we were actually going to be able to!

The drive out there is one we have made together a dozen times and we had so much fun just listening to music and eating snacks and talking. It was a lot of fun :) We stopped at a diner that was on Diners, Drive In's and Dives and had lunch. It was a tiny whole in the wall place.

We then stopped at state line and did some shopping at the outlets. We had a lot of fun being goofy and dressing up, looking for a nice shirt for the hubs to wear to dinner and me getting to pick out a few things as my present. I felt so spoiled. I got a few small things, earrings, bath and body works, and then my one big thing was an amazing, beautiful pair of genuine leather FRYE boots from Neiman Marcus.

If you know me you know how incredibly frugal I am and I usually only shop if it's on sale (I just can't justify paying a lot of $ for clothes and shoes) but my husband said I deserved these and that if I wanted them, he would get them as my anniversary present! I wasn't even looking for them, I stumbled upon them and fell in love. I don't need diamonds or lavish gifts, it was a gift to be able to pick out whatever I wanted, even if it was just $8 sunglasses bc that is a rare treat now that I'm a mom and the babies need things way more that we do! :) Thank you sweet hubby for my gifts! :)

After we made into Vegas we checked in. We stayed at The Red Rock which is in Summerlin and it was actually nice to be staying a ways from the strip. This hotel is new and was beautiful. Thanks to our friends we got a great deal on our room!

We headed to the pool to relax for a bit then realized we were starving and dinner wasn't until 9pm so we headed back up to our room and ordered spinach artichoke dip and watched t.v. in bed :)

Then, we got ready to go to our anniversary dinner. It was amazing to be able to get ready in total peace and take as much time as I wanted! It was also incredible to not have any schedule what so ever, to come and go as we pleased, to stay out as late as we wanted (which was 2 am!) and sleep in (although we didn't really bc we didn't sleep well). It was bliss.

Where we were going to dinner was a total surprise that my husband planned. When we got there I was amazed. It was at the Eiffel Tower resturaunt the Paris hotel. It's actually built into the structure and one of the legs of the structure comes thru the floor! It was incredibly upscale and fancy, the waiters wore tuxedos and I didn't know what half the menu was :) Our table was right up against the window with a view of the beautiful Bellagio water show, which I have always loved to watch!

It was so romantic and special. The thoughtfulness of my husband to pick that place and get us that table, the atmosphere, everything. We enjoyed 2 hours of just talking and reminiscing, enjoy incredible food and just relishing in the fact that we were so blessed to have this opportunity as well as being proud of ourselves for going through with is and not talking/worrying about our twins and not checking in a hundred times :) It was wonderful!

I had a butterflied filet mignion with lemon parsly butter, asparagus with aged parmesan cheese and brown butter. My hubby had a New York steak with a marslaa wine sauce and cheese au gratin potatoes. For dessert we had an incredible chocolate souffle! And after that our waiter brought us a dessert on the house for our anniversary :)

We then headed out to the strip to watch the water show up close! And then to find our friend who is a Las Vegas police officer and was working. I have known Ben since 7th grade (I went 7th,8th and 9th grade in Vegas) and we hadn't seen him in 3 years!

Our 4th was mellow and relaxing, just the way it should be. We started it by heading to the beach in the morning, I rode my beach cruiser and my hubby ran while pushing the twins. We made sand castles and played in the water. The beach was packed and it smelled like barbecues and ocean air. The best!

We came back, ate lunch and the twins took a nap and then we headed over to my parents for a yummy BBQ. We had delicious steaks and I made my mom and I a cocktail called Pimm's Cup. It was so summery and refreshing with the lemon, cucumber and mint. I also baked my very first flag cake, something I have wanted to make for years. I even made homemade buttercream frosting which was fun! Everyone loved it and it was so pretty and festive!

This is the first year we have watched them with the twins! Their first 4th of July they were 9 mo. Last year they were 21 mo and we were in the Caribbean so we didn't celebrate. This year we def made some great memories. One of my favorites was when I took Kaden with me and we snuck down to the end of the water so I could capture the fireworks closer and he and I sat there in silence just watching. The waves were gently crashing up and the reflection of them on the water was beautiful. I was holding his little hand and we had such a sweet little moment.

It was a great day!

Cars 2

Last Friday we took the twins to their FIRST movie in the theaters!! I never thought we'd take them so young but they LOVE the movie Cars and so we just had to take them to see the sequel :) I was a bit nervous that for one reason or another they wouldn't last long and it would be a waste of money but deep down I had a feeling they would do great. We went to a 10:30am showing and it was not crowded at all which was nice. They loved sitting in the big, red chairs and with some snacks and drinks they were good to go! They sat through about 30 min before they needed a potty break and it seemed about every 30 min they needed to go potty or just get up and run around the lobby. Sometimes it was both of them, sometimes it was just one. I was happy with how much they actually did sit down and watch! They did great for only being 2 and having 2 year old attention spans :)
As ALWAYS, I took pictures to document this "first" :) It was such a fun family morning!

My twin sister and I had a pair of red Kenny Rogers western collection cowgirl boots when we were 2-3. I remember wearing them and I remember seeing pictures of us wearing them with jeans, a red and white checkered shirt and pig tails. My mom has talked about the boots many times. I knew she has saved them for our daughters when/if we were to have them and I know my mom and I were both excited at the prospect of Kaleiah getting to wear them one day, since I did have a daughter after all :)
I decided last month that she would wear them for 4th of July weekend, if by luck, they happened to be her size. We kind of forgot about getting them out of storage for her and I was hoping it wasn't too late. Well today we found them and as luck would have it, they are her exact size, a toddler 8. And the pair we happened to find were mins, not Molly's which made it all the more special (my mom had written our names inside with a permanent marker).
I had a major itch to do a quick photo shoot just to get some shots of her wearing them bc it's so special. It's not often that a child gets to wear something their mom or dad wore at their age. These pictures will be keep sakes :)
I had the perfect setting in mind, it just popped into my head. I obviously wanted something red, white and blue themed but it needed to be fast and I didn't want to go far. On the stretch of beach below us there is a solemn tree trunk with an American flag attached. That thing has been for as long as I can remember. I decided that's where we could go bc it's 2 min from home and easy.And oh my word, was it just perfect. Love the simplicity of it.

A first at Disneyland

Hi munchkins! As you know, we go to Disneyland a lot and a lot of the time we ride the same rides bc you definetly have favorites. We have gotten there many, many times as the parade is going on, have been on rides and seen it going on and have glanced at it as we walk to our next ride but we have never stopped and actually watched it. I guess the reason is, we only have a 2-3 hour window each time we go and we don't want to waste time watching it when we could be on a ride. Well, on this particular day we were riding tea cups and just as it was ending, the parade was passing us, the beginning of the parade in fact! We walked over to our stroller and we were blocked in but it happened to be right up front with a perfect view of the parade! First character in the parade was Mickey and he waved RIGHT to Kaleiah! You both LOVED seeing all of your favorite characters in person. The complete and total look of of wonder and pure innocence and joy in your little faces was making me choke up. I tell you, I LIVE for little moments like that. Little treasures that I tuck away deep in my heart that I'll never forget. Simple but magical moments...I just love seeing the world through your eyes! Since we were so close, most of the characters made eye contact with you and waved to you and you waved right back! Kaleiah, you have known of and liked the Disney Princesses for a while now although we haven't watched many of their movies. Last month Nana gave you Little Mermaid to watch and you are now all about Ariel! You love her! When she passed us in the parade your little face lit up and the best part was your reaction after she waved right to you! I was just so excited for you! I am so glad we got stuck and watched te parade with you! You both just loved it!!!

I haven't blogged in a while bc about 12 days ago Kaleiah got sick. She got a high fever and vomitied once, the fever persisted day and night for 3 days. We kept it down with tylenol and motrin, thankfully. As always, we knew Kaden would probably get it and he did. He first got a fever and alos threw up one time the first day. He was back to his normal self after just day and a half though. Kaleiah's fever went away but on the 4th day she got a yucky cough and a runny nose. Then a few days later threw up again! Then Kaden got the cough and runny nose. This made for a very long week for me and long nights/crappy sleep for all of us. Ugh.
Just when it seemed like they were on the mend after 10 days of this crud bouncing back and forth between them, we headed to Target to pick up a birthday present for my niece. Our first outing in 10 days. The whole day I had felt yucky, like I was going to puke. I was praying I wasn't getting what they had. At Target I had to run out to the car bc I was afraid I was about to loose my lunch. The whole ride home I felt to nauseous and Kaleiah was crying and whining for me saying she wanted Mommy. I was explaining to her that I would hold her as soon as we got home but I couldn't get her out bc we were driving and BAM! SHe startes vomiting all over. She is covered, it's flying on the the floor of the van and her t.v. GREAT! What the heck!?!? No one had puked in DAYS...and what was even weirder is I ws the one who felt like I was going to throw up. And then she does out of no where. We hurry and oull over, take her clothes off and clean best as we can with wipies. A few times I almost threw up bc the last thing someone who feel like they are going to throw up wants to see or smell is vomit! ugh! We barely make it inside and I then start to vomit for the next 5 hours. From 7pm to midnight. Horrible doesn't cover it! So glad my husband was home and took care of the twins. So I was out for the count the whole next day and my amazing husband took the day off to stay home and help. I would not have been able to do anything, I am so thankful he stayed home! The next day Kaden throws up a little after he went to bed. Poor guy woke up covered. 2 hours later and it happens again. The next day and night, again. Thankfully Kaleiah was spared and slept 12 hours straight so we only had to deal with one sick child at once. That something I was extremely thankful for this time...the last time (and only other time they got the flu) they were 10 mo old and both had it for 10 days. It was the worst experience thus far in their little lives. This time was so much more managable but if you have had a sick child you know how hard it is. But today was a new day and we decided to test the water and get out of the house for a little bit.I was sooooooooo sick of being trapped inaide the house ALL week with sick kids! I needed a reason to get dressed, put on some make up and get a change of scenary.
This morning I was looking at some of our pictures from our vacation in Maui and the twins saw a picture of them eating Shave Ice. They wanted some. Well, there is a tiny, hole in the wall Hawaiian resturaunt right dow the street from us that we knew had shave ice. So we all got dressed and off we went!

We went to the park for about 30 minutes and then headed home for naps. It was so nice getting out for a bit! After they woke up we headed to the Spectrum for some more fresh air and play time.

It was so nice to feel normal again and do something other than be sick and be stuck in the house! Praying for total health to be restored back to our little family!
